Kathmandu. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has announced that it will hold two-week talks with the United States in Islamabad to finalize the terms of the ceasefire. At the same time, Tehran claims that it has achieved a historic victory in the ongoing conflict.

According to a detailed statement issued by the council, Iran claims that Washington has been forced to accept 10-point strategic and economic demands. Iran’s main demands include non-aggression guarantees, the continuation of Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz, recognition of uranium enrichment, the lifting of sanctions on Iran, the withdrawal of US troops from the Middle East and payment of reparations.

Commenting on the outcome of the conflict, the council said: “The enemy suffered an unforgettable historic and shameful defeat in its cowardly, illegal and criminal war against the Iranian nation. Iran has forced the US to accept its 10-point plan, which has brought about a decisive change in the regional balance of power.

However, Iran has clarified that the start of these talks does not mean an immediate end to the war. “Negotiations do not mean the war is over, it will not end until all the details are finalized,” the statement said. The talks will last for a maximum of 15 days.

Iran says its military force and deterrence axis over the past 40 days have inflicted heavy damage on US military infrastructure and thwarted America’s plans for a quick victory. According to Iran, the US has repeatedly called for a halt to the war over the past month, but Tehran has refused to do so until its objectives are met.

It is said that Pakistan has played the role of a mediator to create an atmosphere for this dialogue. According to the Pakistani Prime Minister, the US has agreed in principle on the draft of the proposed talks. Iran’s leadership has said it remains in a “strong position” and will continue its military operation until a diplomatic outcome is assured.

While Iran’s claims are yet to be independently verified, it is seen as an important diplomatic opening amid weeks of tension and conflict.
