Kathmandu. The Traffic Police has slapped a fine of Rs 500 on Bablu Gupta, a member of the House of Representatives of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), after a video of him standing on the back of a moving motorcycle went viral on social media.
Gupta, who was elected from Siraha-1, handed over the fine to the District Traffic Police Office, Lahan, according to police.
Gupta was seen standing on the back of a moving Bullet motorcycle and taking a video on his mobile phone, which drew criticism on social media. Questions were also raised whether the law would be applied to him as a public servant who had violated traffic rules.
After this, the traffic police fined him Rs 500 for violating traffic rules.
Gupta’s fine has evoked mixed reactions on social media. Some have welcomed the action saying that the principle of equality in the eyes of all citizens has been implemented, while others have said that the fine of Rs 500 is not enough.
After his criticism, MP Gupta posted a message on Facebook apologizing. “Now a video of me sitting on a motorcycle is going viral on social media. When I reached the place where I played as a child, old memories were refreshed. In that moment of joy and joy, I realized that I had violated the traffic rules by jokingly standing on the back of a motorcycle and making a video.
“I express my commitment to devote this passion and energy for the welfare of the country and people,” Gupta added. I apologize if I have made any mistake, knowingly or unknowingly. ’
Earlier, the District Traffic Police Office, Kailali had slapped a fine of Rs 500 on Sudurpaschim Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah for violating traffic rules by riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet.
Similarly, the traffic police had also taken action against the Chairman of the Labour and Culture Party, Harka Raj Rai (Harka Sampang), for violating traffic rules.
