Gagan asks Deuba to inaugurate general convention as former president

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has urged the people to participate in the inaugural session of the general convention scheduled for September 1.

He said that it would be an honour for them when Deuba inaugurated the convention on that day.

“I would like to request my respected leader and former President Sher Bahadur Deuba that some friends have said this,” Thapa said, adding, “It would be an honor for us that the former party president inaugurated the convention on the day of the convention.” ’

Addressing the central working committee meeting of the party on Thursday, he said that the party statute also does not allow Deuba to become the party president.

“The party’s statute also says the same. He will not be the president of the party anymore,” he said.

He further said, “We will start the convention on October 16 at Khula Manch. There will be a ward convention on October 3 and 4. After that, there will be a municipal convention in the middle. After that, there is a town convention in between. We have a lot of pressure for the district and provincial conventions. It is also that there will be an environment for more discussions with the party friends. We should stand for the unity of the party as much as possible. ’
