Kathmandu. The Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the Federal Parliament has invited complaints against four justices recommended for the post of Supreme Court justice.

Issuing a public notice, the committee has urged the candidates to file complaints with clear grounds and evidence within 10 days if they deem it inappropriate to appoint the proposed justices to the Supreme Court.

The Judicial Council meeting held on October 20 recommended the appellate judges Dr. Ratna Bahadur Bagchand, Chandra Bahadur Saru, Janak Pandey and Gokarna Dangi as justices of the Supreme Court.

The meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee held on October 12 had decided to invite complaints against the proposed judges by giving them 10 days to start from November 22. As per the decision, the committee issued a notice on Monday and invited complaints.

The committee has asked the complainant to file the complaint in polite and dignified language during office hours within 10 days from the date of publication of the notice. The committee has said that the informant should clearly disclose his name, surname, address and phone number, but if the complainant wishes, his identity will be kept completely confidential.

The complaint can be registered directly at the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee in Singha Durbar or through any district administration office across the country.

After scrutinizing the complaints received, the committee will proceed with the parliamentary hearing process of the proposed judges. There is a constitutional provision that the President will appoint judges after the names are approved by the hearing committee.
