KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has urged the leaders and cadres to change their working style and thinking.

He urged the party cadres not to come to the airport with garlands when the president or leaders arrive.

“We have already prepared guidelines and sent them to welcome the leaders,” Thapa said while speaking at a program organized by BP Memorial Library, Pokhara.

When President Thapa reached Pokhara Airport on Monday, the leaders and cadres reached to welcome him. After that, he went to Syangja.

Recalling the incident, President Thapa said, “An old man was sitting on the road and counting the vehicles saying that the Congress President had come, saying 21, 22, 23. What do you count the car? The row of vehicles. These are small things but should be changed,” said President Thapa, “We are ordinary citizens, we should be able to listen to the common people, we should be able to talk to people on the road. The president has said that he has kept it aside, he has pushed the friends who came to meet him. All these things have to change.” ’

He has also proposed to run the campaign throughout the month of November. Thapa said that there is a need for dialogue to reconnect those who were previously with the Congress but had voted for another party in the past and for this, the campaign is being started throughout the month of November.

He said that the central members will now be sent to the villages with responsibility.

“Not a single central member will be allowed to stay in Kathmandu, everyone will be sent down, to the village. Now, the candidates for the election will not be selected from the top, the candidates will be decided by the friends of the same level as the election. This is provided in the statute. Those who want to be candidates and party leaders should not sit at the center, they should go down,” said President Thapa.

He also said that the party would move ahead by accommodating all those who were defeated in the 15th general convention and were out of the general convention process.
