Memorandum submitted to PM to give public holiday for 6 days during election

Kathmandu. Youths of Saipal Rural Municipality in Bajhang district have submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Sushila Karki, demanding a six-day public holiday in view of the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives.

They have demanded that a public holiday should be declared from March 18 to 23 to increase voter participation.TAG_OPEN_p_13 The youths of Saipal Rural Municipality sent the memorandum to the Prime Minister via email.

} The memorandum describes the election to the House of Representatives as not only an administrative process but also a national festival of historical and democratic importance to shape the future of the nation.
} “This is the day when the voice of the citizens speaks through the ballot, so it is the supreme responsibility of the state to make the election smooth and widely participatory,” the memorandum reads.
