। KATHMANDU: Former proportional representation (PR) lawmaker of the CPN-UML, Janaki Devi Ram, has left the CPN-UML and joined the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN).
Ram, who had announced to quit the UML on February 2, was elected to the post of CPN-UML in Siraha constituency no. Candidate of Province 3 and central committee member of the party, Bishwanath Sah, welcomed him into the NCP.
She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2074 BS from the Dalit quota. During her time in parliament, she had raised the issues of inclusivity, social justice and ensuring rights.
He accused the UML of increasing autocracy and individualistic working style. According to him, he had to leave the party after the leadership did not listen to him despite repeatedly raising constructive voices for reform.
She said that she was compelled to leave the party due to the dominance of individuals over ideology, discouragement of honest cadres and weakening of organizational values.
