Kathmandu. The Indian border in Sarlahi district will be closed for three days. The border points are to be closed in view of the elections to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 4.
A meeting of the District Security Committee held on Wednesday decided to close the Nepal-India international border with an objective of conducting the elections in a safe and orderly manner.
According to the District Administration Office, Sarlahi, the movement to and from the border point will be completely restricted from 12 midnight of March 2 to 12 midnight on March 4. During this period, all activities except essential services and coordination of security agencies will be strictly strict.
Chief District Officer Ramu Raj Kadariya said that special surveillance would be intensified along the border areas to control untoward activities during the elections and to strengthen peace and security. According to him, the security bodies would be kept in high alertness during the period.
