Kathmandu. Voting is taking place today under the election to the House of Representatives being held under special circumstances after the Jenji movement.
The voting is taking place from 7 am to 5 pm in all 77 districts of Nepal.
Election is taking place today for 165 constituencies under first-past-the-post electoral system and 110 constituencies under proportional representation.
A total of 65 political parties are vying for 61 election symbols under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) category. A total of 3,406 candidates including 3,017 male, 388 female and one other are contesting in the first-past-the-post election.
A total of 3,135 candidates including 1,363 male and 1,772 female are contesting under the PR system.
A total of 1,8903,689 voters including 9,633,358 male, 9,240,131 female and 200 others are eligible to cast their votes in the election.
Likewise, 186,142 provisional voters have been enlisted, according to the Election Commission.
A total of 23,112 polling stations have been set up at 10,967 polling stations across the country. Similarly, 143 temporary polling stations have been fixed.
According to the Election Commission, senior citizens, people with disabilities, people with disabilities and pregnant women will be given priority for easy voting.
Nearly three lakh security personnel deployed

A total of 79,727 Nepal Army has been deployed for election security. A total of 75,797 Nepal Police and 34,567 Armed Police Force (APF) personnel have been mobilized.
The National Investigation Department (NID) has deployed 1,921 personnel while the election police have deployed 149,090 personnel.
A total of 215,000 employees are working for the election.
A total of 42.22 million 51,200 ballot papers under the first-past-the-post and proportional representation category have been printed and sent to the respective polling stations.
A total of 4 international organizations and 39 national organizations are on duty to observe the elections.
President Ram Chandra Poudel, Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Sushila Karki and Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari have already appealed to the voters to enthusiastically participate in the election process.
Meanwhile, Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal has urged all voters to take part in the voting without any fear, stating that all required security arrangements have been put in place.
The Greatest Ritual of the Electoral Lokanta

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has said that election is the biggest ritual in a democratic system.
Issuing an appeal in regard to the election to the member of the House of Representatives taking place today, he said the election has a significant role as each and every vote that every voter cast in the election determines the form of political system, governance, government, policy and leadership.
He expressed confidence that all voters will protect their rights by participating in such an important ritual.
“It is the duty of every sovereign entitled voter to participate in the election,” he said.
