Kathmandu. Iran has threatened to indefinitely close the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important trade routes, as the conflict with the United States enters its fourth week. The headquarters of Iran’s armed forces has threatened to close the strait in retaliation if the US bombs Iran’s energy facilities.
Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has warned the United States that if an attack on Iran’s energy infrastructure is carried out, financial institutions and infrastructure that invest US military funds in the region will be legitimately targeted. “A strike on our power station will destroy all oil and energy facilities in the region, and oil prices will remain high for a long time,” he wrote on X. ’
He also warned those who buy US Treasury bonds and said that they are monitoring these areas. Earlier, US President Donald Trump had threatened to bomb Iranian infrastructure if the Strait of Hormuz was not opened for traffic within 48 hours. U.S. CENTCOM says it is destroying Iranian naval targets that disrupt international shipping.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Monday launched a new round of air strikes on several strategic locations in Tehran.
According to the IDF, military training centers, missile depots, weapons production sites and the headquarters of the intelligence ministry in Tehran have been damaged. At least 15 people were injured and several houses and roads were damaged in Iran’s latest ballistic missile attack on Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described Iran as the “enemy of civilization and the free world” and vowed that the United States and Israel will continue to use force against Iran’s terrorist regime.
These developments have raised the risk of a major war in the Middle East, which is expected to have serious implications for the world’s energy supply and economic stability.
