House adjourned after Rajendra Rai’s remarks

Kathmandu. The meeting of the House of Representatives has been adjourned. Speaker KP Sharma Oli postponed the meeting for 15 minutes following the controversy over CPN-UML lawmaker Rajendra Rai’s remarks.

A controversy erupted when lawmaker Rai asked the Speaker whether he could hear his ears or not. Objecting to this statement, the Speaker did not give time to Rai to speak.

When the Speaker stopped Rai from speaking, the UML lawmakers stood up and protested. Ruling party lawmaker Jwala Sangraula also demanded that Rai’s statement be removed from the record.

The Speaker then apologized and gave Rai time to speak for the second time, asking him to correct his statement. However, he questioned the role of the Speaker and said that he cannot run the House for 5 years.

“You can’t run the House for 5 years, I have seen the legs, don’t you need to listen to it?”
