Kathmandu. This festival is celebrated by eating kheer in the Nepali society. The tradition of eating curd beaten rice on June 29 and kheer on July 29 during the rainy season has been a traditional tradition since ancient times.
Kheer is eaten because it is good for health during the rainy season. It is believed that the kheer made by adding hot spices and cheese to milk is good for health.
Kheer, which is called payas in Sanskrit language, is considered to be the best of the sattvic food, so it is described in the Vedic scriptures as an important item in ancestral and deity. Farming is also done in the village in July. Because there is more greenery, there is more grass. Cows and buffaloes also give a lot of milk when they have a lot of good grass. It is believed that when there is a lot of milk, it is customary to invite friends and friends to the house and feed them kheer.
Saun is the month of Lord Shiva. Since Shiva loves milk and milk dishes, kheer and other sweets are offered methodically. Therefore, experts say that the practice of eating kheer in the middle of July may have started. But there is no scriptural word for it. Since the time of the sages, Brahmins who were invited to Shraddha and ancestral ceremonies were fed payas or kheer. Even today, the followers of Vedic Sanatan Dharma compulsorily make payas or kheer in cow’s milk on the day of Shraddha.
Rice, savadana, vermicelli, maize, carrot and other kheer are also made. Saudana is classified as a fruit. Similarly, green maize is available in abundance in the month of Saun, so it is customary to make maize pudding in Nepali society. There is a religious belief that one should offer kheer to the deity.
The Nepali dictionary defines kheer as “rice cooked in milk, a delicious food item cooked with rice, sugar, spices, etc. cooked in milk.” In Nepali society, it is a traditional custom to prepare curd beaten rice on June 29, kheer on July 29, roasted maize on August 29, ghee on Poush 15, malpua on January 29 and feed it to friends and daughters.
The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has decided to celebrate the 15th of Saun as Kheer Day. Processed milk contains 3 percent fat, 4. 7 percent lactose and 3. According to the board, 60 percent calories per 100 grams of processed milk can be calorie. This year, the eighth Kheer Day is being celebrated.
