World Bank pledges $50 million for Nepal’s digital transformation

. KATHMANDU: The World Bank has decided to provide 50 million US dollars for the digital transformation of Nepal under the Nepal Digital Transformation Project. The project aims to provide services to citizens through digital means while strengthening public infrastructure.

The project will invest in platforms such as an integrated online citizen service portal, secure data exchange system, verifiable certificates, digital wallets and digital lockers.TAG_OPEN_p_3 It aims to provide easy, secure and transparent service to citizens and businesses.

According to World Bank Division Director David Sislane, investing in digital infrastructure will promote inclusivity, effectiveness and good governance in public service delivery.TAG_OPEN_p_2 The project will be implemented under a joint co-financing arrangement of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. ADB will contribute 40 million US dollars to the project.
