‘Tendency of not taking action against others should be stopped’: CIAA chief Rai

. Chief of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Prem Kumar Rai, has said that the attitude of not taking action against those close to him and only taking action against others is wrong. Speaking at a program organized to mark the 35th establishment day of the CIAA, Rai said, “The tendency of complaining against those close to them but complaining about the lack of action against those close to them should be stopped immediately.” ”

According to Rai, the same type of crime is repeated every year and there is a tendency to avoid responsibility as the suggestions given by the commission have not been implemented.TAG_OPEN_p_3 He said punitive measures were not enough to control corruption, but collective efforts of all.

He also stressed the need of developing competent human resources to face the changing challenges, good governance would not be possible if the executive bodies of the government were not active and ruthless against corruption, and a nationwide preventive campaign was needed.TAG_OPEN_p_2 According to Rai, more than 50 per cent of the complaints received at the CIAA are related to local and state governments.
