Durga Prasain’s habeas corpus writ petition

Kathmandu. The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a show cause order on the habeas corpus petition filed by Durga Prasai.

A single bench of Justice Kumar Regmi on Tuesday issued the order to furnish reasons for the arrest of Prasai.

Advocate Suresh Bohara had filed a writ petition naming District Administration Office Bhaktapur and Bhaktapur District Police Office as defendants.

On Sunday, the District Administration Office, Bhaktapur, had given permission to the police to take Prasain into custody for five days.

Earlier, Prasai was released on appearance bail on February 8 in connection with an electronic crime case and was arrested again on February 17.

At that time, the police had accused him of involvement in election sabotage. He was released on February 27 on the order of Justices Manoj Kumar Sharma and Meghraj Pokharel. Prasai was arrested again within 4 days of his release on the orders of the Supreme Court.

Lately, the administration has been arresting him on suspicion of playing a role in disrupting the election and releasing him by court order.
