Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) organizes special programme on International Women’s Day

Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is organizing a special programme on the occasion of the 116th International Women’s Day.

The event will be held on March 7 with the slogan of ‘Right, Justice, Action: For All Women and Grrrl’ and national slogan ‘Rights, Justice and Opportunity with Work for All Women and Girls’.

According to the KMC, the event titled ‘Power in Action Her Time is Now’ will be attended by women leaders from different sectors who will share their experiences, struggles, learnings and experiences of their leadership journey.

The program aims to provide an inspiration and learning experience to another woman.

Administration, law, society, industry and business, innovation, women’s rights, gender-responsive city building, reduction in gender-based violence and economic empowerment of women through entrepreneurship will be discussed in the program. In addition, people at the formal and informal leadership level of the society will present their experiences.

Similarly, an exhibition showcasing women-targeted services and programmes being run by the metropolis would also be organised.

The program will also feature live art exhibitions by entrepreneurial women, women’s network, mediation services and judicial facilitators.

The metropolis has also implemented local laws including ‘Dispute Settlement Working Procedure, 2078’, ‘Human Trafficking and Trafficking Control Procedure, 2078’, ‘Ward Women Network Operation Procedure, 2078’, ‘Gender-Based Violence Prevention Fund Operation Procedure, 2078’, ‘Mediation Centre Operation Directive-2079’, and ‘Legal Aid Working Procedure-2080’ for gender equality and protection of women rights.

The KMC has stated that it is working through institutional mechanisms such as the judicial committee, ward women’s network, mediation cell and the Department of Law and Human Rights to effectively implement these laws.
