Kathmandu.  Iranians have taken the oath of allegiance to the country’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. The nationwide celebrations came a day after Iran’s expert assembly announced the appointment of a new supreme leader.

People from all walks of life and Iranian officials gathered in Tehran’s historic Inghellab Square. They waved the national flag and carried a picture of the new leader and the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a joint attack by the US and Israel last month.

They chanted slogans expressing loyalty and support for the new leader and condemned the crimes committed by the US and Israel against Iran. They also said they would continue to support the country’s armed forces in their fight against the United States and Israel.
