Kathmandu. Dubai International Airport has been temporarily closed. Dubai authorities said the flights were suspended as a precaution to ensure the safety of passengers and staff.
Earlier, officials said they were trying to control the fire near the airport. According to the Dubai Media Office, a drone attack on Monday caused a fire in a fuel tank near the airport.
Dubai International Airport was the busiest airport in the world for passengers since the war between the US-Israel and Iran erupted in late February. According to the BBC, in 2025, about 90 million passengers traveled here.
Missile and drone attacks have intensified in the Gulf region since the US-Israel war that began on February 28. Since then, the Gulf Arab countries have faced more than two thousand missile and drone attacks.
The targets include not only U.S. diplomatic missions and military bases, but also oil infrastructure, ports, airports, hotels, residences, and office buildings.
The UAE, which normalized diplomatic relations with Israel in 2020, has been the hardest hit by these attacks.
However, other Arab countries in the Gulf have also been affected. And all of them have criticized Iran.
