Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Ashika Tamang has drawn the attention of the government on the issue of border security and border disputes and demanded that it clarify about the latest incident in Susta area.
Speaking in the House of Representatives on Monday, Tamang said that the problem of Susta is not new but an issue that has not been resolved for a long time. She said many parts of Nepal have become disputed after the Gandaki River changed its course in the Susta region.
“I would like to draw the serious attention of the parliament on the serious issue of border security of Nepal. The problem of lethargy is not a new problem, it has been a problem that has been going on for many years. As the Gandaki River changes its course, much of Nepal’s land in the Susta area has become disputed. ’
Stating that news about the activities of the Indian Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and threatening the locals has been made public in recent period, she demanded the government’s opinion on the reality of the incident. She also pointed out the need to give clear information to the parliament about the steps the government has taken so far and what the future strategy is.
“In recent times, there have been reports of the activities of the Indian Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and intimidation of the locals,” she said. What is the reality of this phenomenon? It is necessary to get clear information about what steps the government has taken in this regard and what is the future strategy. ’
Tamang said that areas like Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura are sensitive issues directly related to Nepal’s national independence and territorial integrity. Stating that the border problems are not limited to these areas, she said that there are various types of disputes and challenges in other border areas as well.
“Lipulekh, Kalapani, Limpiyadhura are sensitive issues related to Nepal’s national independence and territorial integrity. These problems are not limited to those areas. Various types of disputes and challenges exist in other border areas as well. The basis of a nation’s sovereignty is the protection of its territory and ensuring the security of its borders. If the state fails to protect its land and borders, it calls into question the sovereignty of the country. ’
Stating that security of one’s territory and border security were the basis of any country’s sovereignty, she warned that the sovereignty of any country could be questioned if the state failed to protect its land and borders.
Lawmaker Tamang urged the government to factually investigate all issues related to the border and seek solution through diplomatic initiatives. He said that if necessary, we should consider for constructing a wall or barbed wire along the border on the agreement between Nepal and India.
“We urge the government to carry out necessary diplomatic initiatives by fact-checking all border-related issues. If necessary, make arrangements for erecting walls or barbed wire along the border with the consent of both countries,” she said.
