Halee

Halee  is a social drama set in rural Nepal that explores the harsh reality of the Chhaupadi tradition, a discriminatory practice that forces women and girls to stay away from their homes during menstruation. The story follows a family whose daughter is sent to a Chhaupadi shed, exposing the deep-rooted beliefs, fear and social pressure surrounding the practice. As an educated young man challenges these traditions and questions the community’s long-held beliefs, the film explores the struggle between outdated customs and social change. Inspired by real-life events, Halee delivers a powerful message about dignity, equality, education and the need to break harmful traditions.
