Kathmandu. Iran launched a new round of air strikes in the Middle East on Sunday morning. CNN teams said explosions were heard in the capitals and major cities of several countries. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has carried out a sixth round of missile and drone attacks on US bases in Israel and the Middle East, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasmin news agency.
Israel’s military said it had identified missiles fired from Iran and had a defensive system in place. Sirens continued to sound in central and southern Israel. In Dubai, explosions were heard throughout the morning and smoke was seen in the sky. Dubai’s commercial port Jebel Ali Port has caught fire due to debris from a drone barrier.
A large explosion was heard in Doha, Qatar at 7:30 a.m. local time. Qatar’s Interior Ministry said 16 people were wounded and damage was limited in some areas. In Bahrain, CNN confirmed a video of smoke rising near the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Manama. Bahrain’s interior ministry sounded sirens and warned residents to remain calm and move to safer places.
Images of black smoke billowing from Iraq’s Erbil airport emerged. According to Iraq’s Fars News Agency, a huge explosion was heard in the city on Sunday morning. These incidents have further escalated regional tensions and indicate that the security and political situation will become complicated in the coming days.
