Hearing on Durga Prasai’s habeas corpus writ petition begins in Judge Regmi

Kathmandu. The habeas corpus writ petition filed by medical practitioner Durga Prasai has been scheduled for hearing. A single bench of Supreme Court Justice Kumar Regmi is hearing Prasai’s habeas corpus writ petition.

Advocate Suresh Bohara had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court on behalf of Prasai after he was arrested by security personnel from his residence in Bhaktapur.

On Sunday, the Bhaktapur District Administration Office had given permission to the police to take Prasain into custody for 5 days. Earlier, Prasai was released on appearance bail on February 5 in an electronic crime case and was arrested again on February 17.

At that time, the police had accused him of involvement in election sabotage. He was released on February 27 on the order of Justices Manoj Kumar Sharma and Meghraj Pokharel. Prasai was arrested again within 4 days of his release on the orders of the Supreme Court.

Lately, the administration has been arresting him on suspicion of playing a role in disrupting the election and releasing him by court order.
