Kathmandu. Former chief election commissioner Bhojraj Pokharel has urged the voters to exercise their invaluable franchise only after examining the capacity and status of the candidates. Stating that the vote to be cast in the election was not only a vote but also a delegation of sovereign power vested in the citizens, he suggested the government to choose the right candidate.

On the occasion, former Chief Election Commissioner Pokharel said that serious attention should be paid to how the candidates exercise the important rights of the voters and whether they are capable of exercising that right. He urged the candidates to vote by filtering the candidates only when they are fully convinced about how the candidates will shape the future of the people and the country.

He also said that the role of media was most important to make the election fair and dignified. He also called on the media to control illusion, rumour and misinformation and urged them to work within their conduct and periphery.

He said that one vote to be cast in the election is not just a technical process but a delegation of inherent sovereign power to the voters.
