Kathmandu. The election to the House of Representatives has already been held. With the conclusion of the election, the results of the election are also being made public across the country.
According to the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction, preparations are underway to hold the meeting of the elected people’s representatives at the under-construction parliament building in Singha Durbar.
According to the Department, although all the works of the under-construction Parliament Building have not been completed yet, work is underway to hold the next meeting of the House of Representatives in the same building.
The parliament meeting that was being held at the Birendra International Convention Centre in New Baneshwor before the agitation on September 24 has been completely damaged after it was set on fire.
As a result, necessary infrastructures are being constructed and managed to hold the meeting of the newly elected people’s representatives in the parliament building constructed inside Singha Durbar. So far, the overall physical progress of the project has been 93 per cent and the economic progress is 78 per cent.
The contract for the construction of the building was awarded to Nepali construction company Tundi and Chinese construction company Sec (jointly) at the cost of Rs 5.03 billion (excluding VAT). The then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had laid the foundation stone of the building on September 15, 2019 with a target to complete the construction within three years.
