Kathmandu. Artificial intelligence (AI) technology developed by China has shown new possibilities to simplify the daily lives of blind people. Developed in Hangzhou, China, AI glasses help blind people to identify routes, identify obstacles and reach their destinations.

Cai Qionghui from Hangzhou, East China, lost her sight at the age of seven. She currently works as an accomplished piano tuner and performs in orchestras with other visually impaired musicians. However, she says that walking alone is still a challenge.

According to him, most of the navigation software and assistive devices currently in use cannot provide accurate information when they reach the final destination. “Most of the navigation software fails in the last 10 meters, so many times I lose track and can’t find my destination,” she said. “People who are blind want to go out. But they hesitate for fear of such a situation. ”

To solve this problem, a technology company in Hangzhou has developed a special AI glasses for the blind. The company said it spent more than half a year training the system to identify road crossings, stairs and other potential hazards. According to the company, the response time of the system has been reduced from 500 milliseconds to about 300 milliseconds, providing a more secure user experience.

Xue Dong, general manager of Alibaba Cloud’s Tongyi Xianwen Large Language Model Service, said that because a large AI model can interact with the environment like a human, it can act as “eyes, ears and mouth” for blind people, helping to improve their quality of life.

China is poised to become the second largest market for AI glasses after the US, according to market research firm Omdia. It is estimated that about 12 lakh units of AI glasses will be exported this year alone.
