President Bhandari urges Nepalis across the globe to encourage more investment in Nepal

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Poudel has urged the Nepalis living across the globe to utilize the huge potential of the investment in Nepal and also to encourage investors in the countries where they reside to invest in Nepal.

President Poudel urged this during a meeting with the newly-elected office-bearers of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Shital Niwas, on Monday.

“The prestige of Nepalis living abroad will be held high only if Nepal’s internal capacity is enhanced and rapid economic development is achieved,” he said.

He expressed his confidence that you would play more effective role in taking Nepal towards good governance, development and prosperity and enhancing the country’s prestige in the international arena.

“There is huge potential for investment in Nepal, including hydropower, tourism, agriculture, infrastructure, information and communication, education and health, while the world’s largest population and large markets like India and China are close and within our reach,” he said.

“Multilateral partnership is essential for this. The capital, knowledge, skills, experience, investment and entrepreneurship you have earned can prove to be relevant and useful,” President Poudel said.

He said that the investments that you have been making individually and organically in various sectors of Nepal in the past have contributed to Nepal’s development and prosperity. He also urged them to make this assistance more effective in the days ahead.

He said the difficult and complex situation of the country has got an outlet from the recently concluded election to the House of Representatives.
