Kathmandu. In the last six months, 4,666 people have been arrested for drug trafficking from across the country.
During the period, 22,620 ampoules of marijuana, 443 ampoules of hashish, 19 kg of brown heroin, 14 kg of polane, 16 kg of opium, 35,903 tablets of Nitravet, 24,387 ampoules of diazepam, 35,457 ampoules of phenergan, 23,696 ampoules of buprenorphine, 42 ampoules of lupigesic, Police confiscated 69,878 tablets of Spasmo, 682,158 tablets of Trama and 1,074 tablets of Promethazine.
In the same period, 11,109 absconding defendants were arrested and sentenced to 4,470 years in prison and a fine of Rs 1.10 billion was recovered.
Legal action has been taken against 103 defendants in the money laundering case, claiming a claim of Rs 3.11 billion. A total of 758 people have been arrested and action has been taken against them for their involvement in the activities of revenue leakage including gold, silver, customs evasion, hundi and undisclosed amount worth Rs 1 billion.
Police also arrested 127 people in possession of illegal arms and explosives.
