Bhotekoshi floods: 1,436 bodies recovered

Kathmandu. As of 8 am on Sunday, 1,436 bodies have been recovered due to the devastating floods in Bhotekoshi of Rasuwa.

Of them, 223 were in Rasuwa, 203 in Nuwakot, 72 in Dhading, 365 in Chitwan, 79 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 232 in Nawalparasi East and 222 in Nawalparasi West. Two others died while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.

So far, 1,292 dead bodies have been preserved under the soil after completing the necessary process from DNA sample collection to identifying the dead bodies.

A total of 3,283 DNA samples, including 1,286 of the deceased and 1,997 of the relatives, have been collected for the identification of the bodies. The details of 1,362 unidentified bodies have also been uploaded on the website of the Nepal Police.

So far, 7,975 police personnel have been deployed in the flood-affected areas for rescue, search, relief distribution, dead body management and other works. Search is underway for 4,655 people who have gone missing so far.

Similarly, 1,372 people have been kept in holding centers in various districts.
