Home work underway to ease power supply during winter: Minister Shrestha

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has said that homework is being done to ease power supply during the winter season.

Talking to media persons at the Rasuwa Party Office today, Minister Shrestha said that 10 percent of the electricity supply has gone out of the national transmission line as the floods in Bhotekoshi of Rasuwa have damaged the electricity infrastructure. Minister Shrestha said that the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is balancing the national transmission line amid the pressure and homework is being done to ease the supply in winter.

“We have discussed what is the current transmission line and how to address the potential risks in other places as well. However, we are doing workouts to balance the power supply as we do now in the winter months. Let’s hope that the supply will be balanced, including connecting to the transmission line,” he said.

Expressing concern that there might be some inconvenience due to going out of the transmission line, Minister Shrestha said that he is working out in that regard.

“The demand is high in the winter months. Especially in the two months. His workouts are going on,” he said.

Minister Shrestha informed that electricity has been connected to Nuwakot within 24 hours of flood and Rasuwa has also been electrified recently.
