I have not come to parliament for any political lure or position: Lawmaker Khatri

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RJP) lawmaker Rachana Khatiwada Khatri has said that she has not come to the parliament for any political desire or position.

Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, she said that she had come to the parliament to warn the government and to prevent the sacrifice of youths including her son in the Zenji movement.

She said, “Standing in this dignified House today was not for me to have any political desire or greed for position. This is my journey to seek justice. Nine months in my womb, a piece of my heart growing in front of my eyes was seeking justice with the hot bullet fired by the ruler of this time and his flowing red blood. It is a journey of faith and pity. ’

She said she would not hesitate for a second to resign as an MP if the martyrs of the Jenji movement were given full justice.

“Even today, if someone brings my son alive and puts him in my lap, I am ready to resign from the post right now,” she said. ’

MP Khatri objected to the comment made that she was ‘swapping the MP’s post with her son’s corpse’. She urged her not to make political attacks on her personal pain.

She said that she had come to the parliament to warn the government so that the sons of other mothers would not have to face such a situation even if her son was martyred.

She said that although she had many questions and disagreements with the government, she was speaking responsibly.

“The government should not remain silent when the mother of martyrs is insulted,” she said, urging the government to address the condition of the families of martyrs and injured.
