34 days left for election, ballot paper samples of various districts made public

. KATHMANDU — The Election Commission (EC) has published the ballot papers for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 4.

The Election Commission has made public the sample ballot papers of the districts under the seven provinces.TAG_OPEN_p_11 According to the EC, the model of one type ballot paper has been made public for districts having only one constituency and another type for districts having more than one constituency.

The size of the ballot paper will also vary depending on the number of candidates, the EC said.TAG_OPEN_p_10 According to the EC, the size of the ballot paper will be comparatively larger in the constituencies where there are more candidates and the number of candidates will be smaller in the constituencies with fewer candidates. Kathmandu, which has the largest number of constituencies and candidates, is also expected to have a larger ballot paper.

According to the EC, there are only one constituency in Salyan, Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot and Rukum (West) of Karnali province while two constituencies each in Dailekh and Surkhet.TAG_OPEN_p_9 Samples of the actual ballot papers of these districts have also been made public.

Similarly, there is only TAG_OPEN_p_8 one constituency in Bajura, Bajhang, Doti, Darchula, Baitadi and Dadeldhura of Sudurpaschim Province. There are two constituencies in Achham, three in Kanchanpur and five in Kailali. The EC has also made public the sample of the actual ballot papers of all these constituencies.

The actual ballot papers of other districts will be made public gradually, the EC said.TAG_OPEN_p_7 Currently, the printing of ballot papers is underway at Janak Education Materials Centre while the printing of ballot papers under the proportional representation system has been completed.

Likewise, the EC has also forwarded the task of preparing sample ballot papers according to the electoral constituencies of various districts and distributing them to the polling stations under the voter awareness programme.TAG_OPEN_p_6
