Stranded abroad, Pakhapani BK rescued after 3 months

Kathmandu. Bhuwan BK of Phuldanda of Raghuganga Rural Municipality-6 in Myagdi district has been rescued after nearly three months. BK, who was injured in a boat accident while en route to Italy from Serbia, was rescued in coordination with various agencies.

BK was rescued from the accident on November 8 at the initiative of the Migrant Resource Centre under the District Administration Office, in coordination with the Foreign Employment Board, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nepali Embassy in Germany.TAG_OPEN_p_9 BK, who recently returned to his birthplace, said he feels he has got a new life.

According to the report, 13 Nepalis including him were on their way to Italy when they were on their way to Serbia due to lack of work and salary.TAG_OPEN_p_8 He was rescued by the local police but he was left in the hospital for lack of passport and other documents. He said his family had informed the Migrant Resource Centre after being ignored by those who sent him abroad, which made the rescue possible.

} Although he had serious health problems due to immersion in cold water and swallowing a lot of water, his condition has improved now. However, intestinal problems are yet to be cured, BK said. They were trying to cross to Italy illegally in Serbia because they did not get the required work and wages.

According to the Migrant Resource Center, Myagdi, the rescue process was initiated in coordination with the concerned authorities after Bhuwan BK’s wife Meena filed an application on January 7.TAG_OPEN_p_6 Three other people from Myagdi, who had reached Serbia by spending Rs 11 lakh each, have also returned home after they did not get the expected work.
