Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: A woman has been arrested on the charge of posing as an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police. The Area Police Office, Chandranigahapur has arrested Nirmala Mahato, 35, of Kabilasi Municipality-10, Salempur in Sarlahi district.
According to the preliminary investigation of police, Mahato used various alias like Neha, Nisha and Poonam Kumari to mislead the general public and extort money.
According to the police, Mahato has swindled millions of rupees by luring and trusting various people. She had taken Rs 1.50 lakh and documents from Sarlahi auto driver Rajeshwor Sah on the pretext of arranging a Scorpio vehicle from the customs. Santosh Bishwakarma has been accused of cheating jewellers worth Rs 274,000 and goods worth Rs 1.26 lakh from Praveen Sah’s grocery shop.
It has also been found that he has been cheated in the name of money. She had taken a loan of Rs 5 lakh from Bijay Sah Baniya of Gujra Municipality.
He was arrested from Chandrapur Municipality-6 on the basis of a complaint filed by the victims. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rupa Labung, chief of Area Police Office, Chandranigahapur, said that the District Court has extended the remand of Mahato on the charge of cheating, criminal breach of trust and criminal gain.
