House of Representatives election: PM Karki in Solukhumbu to take stock of situation in mountainous districts

. Solukhumbu – Prime Minister Sushila Karki has arrived in Solukhumbu today to take stock of the preparations for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 4 and the situation in the mountainous districts.

Prime Minister TAG_OPEN_p_9 Karki along with his chief personal secretary Adarsha Kumar Shrestha and Press Advisor Ram Bahadur Rawal reached Solukhumbu this morning. The team initially reached Namche but now it is in the district headquarters Salleri.

The Chief District Officers and the district chiefs of the security bodies welcomed the Prime Minister and briefed him about the overall security situation and election preparations in the district.TAG_OPEN_p_8 According to Rawal, the district officials have briefed that there will be no problem in conducting the election on March 4 in view of the situation so far.

‘Looking at the past years, there is no record of snowfall in the month of February. Therefore, there will be no problem in holding the election on March 21,” Rawal said.

According to Chief District Officer of Solukhumbu Leela Kumari KC Pandey, there are 123 polling booths in the district.TAG_OPEN_p_6 Seven polling stations, four of which are located higher than Namche, are likely to be affected due to snowfall. As of now, all the polling stations are in normal condition.

According to the Prime Minister’s press advisor, PM Oli is scheduled to head west today and tomorrow after taking stock of the situation in other mountainous districts of the eastern region.TAG_OPEN_p_5
