National men’s and women’s hockey tournament to be held from February 17

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Nepal Hockey Association is to organise the National Women’s and Men’s Hockey Tournament from February 17 to 26.

Organizing a press conference on Friday, the association informed that the national women’s and men’s hockey tournament is going to be held from May 4 to 11.

The National Hockey Tournament is to be held at the Dasharath Stadium. A total of 6 teams will compete in the men’s category and 5 teams in the women’s category.

In men’s category, Madhesh State, Gandaki State, Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, Sudur Paschim Province and Nepal Police Club are competing. The men’s team will be divided into two groups and will be played under the league-cum-knockout system.

In women’s category, Koshi Province, Gandaki Province, Madhes Province, Sudurpaschim Province and Bagmati Province are competing under the round robin league system.

The top three finishers in the men’s and women’s categories will get Rs 75,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. Player of the tournament will be awarded with Rs 5,000 while player of the match will be awarded with Rs 2,000. The cost of the tournament is estimated to be around Rs 40 lakh.
