Corruption case against 16 including former state minister Singh of Madhes Province begins hearing

Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has assigned a hearing on the corruption case filed against 16 persons including former state minister of Madhes Province Saroj Kumar Singh.

A three-member bench of Justices Narayan Prasad Poudel, Hemanta Rawal and Bidur Koirala has been conducting the hearing on Monday.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has demanded a recovery of Rs 38,50,319 against Singh in a corruption case. The CIAA has alleged that the amount deposited in the account of the consumer committee was withdrawn through his personal secretary Binod Kumar Lal Kayastha and deposited in the joint account of his wife and himself.

A corruption case has been filed against Singh and 16 others in the Special Court.

Other defendants in the case are Ramesh Madar, Amlesh Kumari, Deeparaj Devi Rajput, Bhikhari Raut Kurmi, Bhupendra Kumar Jha, Manju Devi Pasman, Ramnath Sahani, Ajnugya Devi, Ram Sharan Khatwe, Bibha Devi Khatwe, Shambhu Kumar Mandal, Yogindra Mahato, Sunaina Kumari, Yamuna Prasad Mahato and Kaushilya Devi.
