Supreme Court orders release of Durga Prasai from jail

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the release of Durga Prasai, coordinator of the Campaign to save the nation, nationality, religion and culture, from jail. A division bench of Justices Manoj Kumar Sharma and Megh Raj Pokharel issued the order on Monday. Uma Prasain had filed a habeas corpus petition at the Supreme Court last week, claiming that she was illegally detained.

The Election Commission had written to the police to take action against Prasai for his involvement in election fraying. Accordingly, police arrested Prasain from Kathmandu on February 14.
