Discussion on banning liquor sale 7 days before election

Kathmandu. Discussions were held to ban the sale of alcohol 7 days before the election to the House of Representatives. A high-level election security committee meeting discussed the issue, according to a senior official who attended the meeting.

According to Tuesday’s discussion, the Election Commission will recommend to the government to stop the sale of liquor. The election to the House of Representatives is taking place on March 4. The official present in the meeting said that after the recommendation of the commission, the decision on liquor will be taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

“Discussions have been held at least 7 days ago to completely ban the sale of liquor. ’

It has been analysed that if the sale of alcohol is not controlled, it will add to the challenge of election security. The government is also preparing to control alcohol to make the Tarai Holi festival celebrated on March 19 well.

The high-level security committee has decided to stop the movement of people along the border for 72 hours.
