Astrologer arrested for predicting no elections released on bail

Kathmandu. Astrologer Rudra Nath Adhikari, who was arrested on the basis of his prediction that elections would not be held, has been released from custody. He was released on bail.

The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested Adhikari from Chandragiri on Monday evening. After his arrest, he was kept in custody at the District Police Range, Kathmandu. Spokesperson of Kathmandu District Police, Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Kumar Bhattarai said that he was released on bail yesterday.

The police had taken a statement from Bhattarai about his prediction. In his statement to the police, Bhattarai said that it is not new for astrologers to make predictions.

According to the police, Bhattarai had said that the election could not take place and even if it did, it could be bad. There was a protest on social media over the arrest of the astrologer on the basis of the prediction.
