Kathmandu. Nepali Congress candidate Basana Thapa has been elected from Dailekh-1. She defeated her nearest rival Rabindra Raj Sharma of CPN-UML by 576 votes.
Thapa garnered 12,372 votes while CPN-UML’s Sharma garnered 11,796 votes. Nanda Kishor Basnet of Rastriya Janajatantra Party (RSP) got 8,151 votes while Amar Bahadur Thapa of NCP got 4,256 votes.
In the local level elections of 2074 BS, Thapa was elected the deputy mayor of Narayan Municipality for the first time.
