Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki had telephone conversation with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Karki extended best wishes for peace, justice and harmony on the occasion of Ramadan.

During the dialogue, Prime Minister Karki condemned the attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in the sovereign territory of the UAE and expressed solidarity with the UAE in this difficult situation.

Prime Minister Karki has called on all sides concerned to exercise maximum restraint, not to escalate further tensions and ensure the safety of the citizens.

“War is never an alternative to peace,” she said, adding that lasting peace would be possible only through diplomacy and dialogue. She also expressed her hope that the situation would return to normal as soon as possible.

She also expressed her sincere gratitude to the UAE government for ensuring public safety and taking equal care of all residents, visitors and people in transit, including Nepali citizens who work and live there.

“I am deeply saddened to learn that a Nepali national lost his precious life while on duty at the Zayed International Airport on March 1, 2026. “I am also concerned to learn that on March 5, 2026, two Nepalis were injured in the ICAD area of Abu Dhabi.

During the telephonic conversation, she expressed confidence that this situation would not last long and would eventually provide space for a new diplomacy.

“For the time being, the security of Nepali citizens is a concern and in the long term, we are facing macroeconomic pressures, including rising fuel prices, contraction in investment flows, and rising inflation,” she said. She also expressed confidence that passengers in transit will be able to depart safely to their respective destinations in Nepal or third countries.

On the occasion, the UAE President thanked Prime Minister Karki for the solidarity and sympathy extended by Nepal as a good friendly country in this difficult situation.

The Home Minister has also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life of a Nepali man in the line of duty at Zayed International Airport on March 1, 2026.
