RSP elected in all fifteen constituencies of Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has won in 15 constituencies of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts in the Kathmandu Valley. The RSP has won 10 seats in Kathmandu, three in Lalitpur and two in Bhaktapur.

According to the Election Commission, the party won only seven out of 15 constituencies in the first Constituent Assembly election in 2008 despite the wave of the then CPN (Maoist). He had won only 10 out of 15 constituencies in Kathmandu in the 2017 BS election despite the alliance between the then CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre). Similarly, the Nepali Congress and the CPN (Maoist Center) had won only seven seats in the 2079 BS electoral alliance. This is the first time in the history of the Kathmandu Valley that the Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) has won all the constituencies.

In Kathmandu-1, Ranju Darshana of Rastriya Janata Party (RSP) won the election with 15,455 votes while her nearest rival Prabal Thapa of Nepali Congress got 6,364 votes. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) candidate Rabindra Mishra was defeated for the third time with 3,972 votes.

Sunil KC of Rastriya Janajatantra Party (RSP) won the election from Kathmandu-2 securing 29,142 votes while his nearest rival Kabir Sharma of Nepali Congress got 8,824 votes. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)’s Kunti Devi Pokharel got 2,135 votes.

In Kathmandu-3, Raju Pandey of Rastriya Samajwadi Party was elected with 18,757 votes while Kulman Ghising of Ujjyalo Nepal Party won the election with 11,171 votes. Nepali Congress candidate Ramesh Aryal garnered 6,000 votes while CPN-UML’s Rameshwor Phuyal got 3,816 votes. In Kathmandu-4, Pukar Bam of Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) got 29,142 votes, NC’s Sachin Timilsina came third with 8,824 votes and CPN-UML’s Rajan Bhattarai came third with 5,733 votes.

In Kathmandu-5, Sasmit Pokharel of Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) got 30,737 votes and his nearest rival Pradip Poudel of Nepali Congress got 9,159 votes and Ishwor Pokharel of CPN-UML got 4,701 votes. Likewise, in Kathmandu-6, Shishir Khanal garnered 27,719 votes, NC’s Krishna Baniya got 6,647 votes and Aman Maskey of CPN-UML got 4,373 votes. Ganesh Parajuli of Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) won the election from Kathmandu-7 securing 27,805 votes while his nearest rival Pramod Hari Guragain of Nepali Congress got 3,982 votes. CPN’s Basanta Manandhar got 3,667 votes and Prakash Shrestha of CPN-UML got 3,544 votes.

In Kathmandu-8, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha of Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) got 24,592 votes, Suman Sayami of NCP got 3,217 votes and Sapana Rajbhandari of Nepali Congress got 2,838 votes. Dol Prasad Aryal of Rastriya Janata Party (RSP) won the election from Kathmandu-9 securing 35,093 votes, NC’s Nanumaiya Bastola got 5,460 votes and Ajaya Kranti Shakya of CPN-UML came third with 4,580 votes. Pradip Bista of Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) was elected from Kathmandu-10 securing 37,469 votes, NC’s Himal Karki got 8,100 votes and Binod Shrestha of CPN-UML came third with 4,864 votes.

The Rastriya Samajbadi Party (RSP) candidates have been elected in Bhaktapur-1 and 2. The Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP), NC and CPN-UML had been winning Bhaktapur-1 since 1992. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RSP) has fielded Rukesh Ranjit from Bhaktapur-1 and Rajiv Khatri from Bhaktapur-2.

Similarly, CPN-UML’s Kiran Neupane came third with 4,182 votes while NSWP’s Prem Suwal secured 28,147 votes. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RSP)’s Rajiv Khatri won the election from Bhaktapur-2 securing 42,334 votes while his nearest rival Mahesh Basnet of CPN-UML got 10,996 votes and Kabir Rana of NC got 8,401 votes.

Maharjan and Karki elected from Lalitpur {{TAG_OPEN_strong_28 TAG_CLOSE_strong_28}}

In Lalitpur-1, Buddha Ratna Maharjan of Rastriya Janata Party (RSP) got 23,373 votes, Udaya Shumsher Rana of Nepali Congress came second with 13,520 votes and Chetnath Sanjel of CPN-UML came third with 6,546 votes.

In Lalitpur-2, Jagadish Kharel of Rastriya Samajwadi Party won with 22,230 votes. NC’s Prem Krishna Maharjan came second with 2,873 votes and UML’s Prem Bahadur Maharjan came third with 2,451 votes. In Lalitpur-3, Tosima Karki of Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) has been elected with 43,096 votes, Jitendra Kumar Shrestha of Nepali Congress has come second with 9,045 votes and Raj Kaji Maharjan of NCP has come third with 6,022 votes.
