Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The cadres of the Nepal Student Union (NSU), the student wing of the Nepali Congress, have drawn the attention of the party leadership.
Submitting a memorandum to the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee (CWC) on Sunday, they demanded protection of the party’s historic prestige and statute. In the memorandum, the NSU cadres have said that the NSU has been internalizing the NC’s ideals and principles since its establishment.
According to them, the main challenge now is to protect the image of the organization which was built on the sacrifices made by the students for democracy. The cadres have objected to some of the activities taking place within the organization as “illegal” and “indisciplined”. The memorandum states that the publicity being carried out in the media with the intention of splitting the NSU from the party has been taken as an act against the organization.
“The publicity being made through the media to split NSU from the party on the basis of illegal process is a serious indiscipline,” reads the memorandum. “
They have also questioned the legitimacy of the said meeting held at Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur on March 6, 2082. The cadres have argued that the quorum required in the meeting could not be recognized as it did not have the required quorum as per the statute. Stating that such activities against the statute would weaken the organization, they urged the party leadership to be serious in this regard.
