Kathmandu. Kathmandu – Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) in collaboration with Sajha Yatayat is to operate night public transport from April 15, 2083.
The route starts from Lagankhel, Patan Hospital, Alka, Norvic, Maternity Hospital, Trauma Centre, Bir Hospital, Kanti Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Gangalal Heart Centre and Budhanilkantha.
It is a 16-km north-south one-way route. The one-way distance from Thankot to Satungal, Kalanki, Kalimati, Tripureshwor, Thapathali, Maitighar Mandala, Baneshwor, Min Bhawan and Tinkune to the international airport is 20 kilometers. There will be 4 night electric buses on these two routes.
“We are starting night public transport service as it is necessary to improve the existing situation of expensive travel due to the non-operation of public transport after 8:00 pm. Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol said, “All are facing problems due to lack of public transport and its alternative. Girls and women have also been harassed. Students are facing a lot of financial problems. We are going to provide services to improve this situation. ’
The goal is to make the service a state-of-the-art, integrated, easy, secure and reliable sustainable system. The Metropolitan Municipality is open to collaborating with partners to achieve this goal. Acting Chief Dangol said.
The bus service will be operated from 8 pm to 11 pm. Buses will arrive at bus stops every 20 minutes. The bus will be fitted with CCTV cameras. The city police will be there for security.
