Aryal’s candidacy for speaker’s post

Kathmandu, April 20. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Vice-President Dol Prasad Aryal has filed his candidacy for the post of Speaker.

The candidacy for the post of Speaker was filed on Friday and the election will be held on April 22. According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the time for registering candidacy for the post of Speaker is from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm today. The list of candidates will be published at 2:30 pm.

In the meeting of the House of Representatives scheduled for November 22, the proposal for the election of the Speaker will be tabled and seconded by the supporters. The agenda is to be submitted for decision after the group discussion on the candidacy notice.

Earlier, a meeting of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) held on Thursday had decided to nominate Aryal for the post of Speaker. Aryal filed his candidacy for the post of Speaker today as per the same decision.

The senior-most member of the House of Representatives, Arjun Narsingh KC, has been presiding over the meeting of the House of Representatives.

The election for the post of Vice-Chairman of the National Assembly will be held on April 7. The nomination process for the same is scheduled for April 22.

The post of Vice-Chairman of the National Assembly is currently vacant as the term of Vice-Chairman Bimala Ghimire ended on March 20.

Dol Prasad Aryal is a Nepali politician. There v. No. In January 2022, he was the Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security in the Prachanda-led government for 20 days.

v. No. He was elected as a proportional representation representative in the 2079 BS and was a former member of the dissolved House of Representatives. Currently, he is serving as the vice-president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

He was appointed as the acting chairman of the party for a brief period after the Supreme Court in January 2079 removed Rabi Lamichhane from all public posts citing his citizenship as invalid.

Later, Aryal had served as the acting president of the party even when Lamichhane was in jail in connection with the cooperative case. Aryal has been appointed as the vice-president after Lamichhane was released from prison.

Aryal has been the Minister of Labor twice. He has been contesting in Kathmandu-9 constituency on a Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in the March 4 election announced following the dissolution of parliament following the Jenji movement.
