Kathmandu. The Department of Foreign Employment has abolished the token system. According to the department, the token system has been scrapped and labour permits are being issued within a day.

Director General of the Department, Meera Acharya, said that the Department has started works as per the directives received after the formation of the new government to make the foreign employment safe, systematic and disciplined and for the protection of the rights and interests of Nepali workers.

The Department had issued a notice on March 29 warning of action against anyone doing any work related to foreign employment without a license as per Section 10 of the Foreign Employment Act, 2064.

According to Acharya, the Department has requested the government to fill up the form in Nepali language or both Nepali and English language to address the complaint of the workers who have to sign the form without understanding it as the forms filled up by licensed manpower companies during the interview are only in English language. If such provision is not made, action will be taken as per the law.

Similarly, the training fee has been fixed at Rs 700. If the information is received that the fee has been charged more than that, the license of the training provider organization will be automatically canceled.

According to Director General Acharya, the department will publish the details of the cases registered (including the name, address and amount of the defendant) on its website every three days from today.
