Around 500 electric vehicles enter Nepal from Birgunj border point in seven months

Kathmandu. Nearly 500 electric vehicles have entered Nepal via Birgunj border point in the first seven months of the current fiscal year. A total of 497 electric vehicles (jeeps, cars and vans) worth Rs 1.48 billion were imported in the country.

The office has collected revenue of Rs 963.6 million from the import of electric vehicles. In the first seven months of the last fiscal year, 165 electric vehicles worth Rs 430.1 million were imported. Udaya Singh Bista, information officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, said that the import of electric vehicles has increased in the current fiscal year as compared to the last seven months.

Likewise, vehicles and spare parts worth Rs 23.57 billion were imported in the first seven months of the current fiscal year, according to the Birgunj Office. In the first seven months of the last fiscal year, imports of vehicles and spare parts amounted to Rs 17.15 billion.
