Kathmandu. The printing of driving licenses is going on at a rapid pace. According to Devraj Dhungana, executive director of the Security Printing Center, around 40,000 licenses are being printed on a daily basis.

According to him, the license printing has been given high priority and the target has been set to print around 29 lakh licenses by the end of July, 2083 BS. Of this, the government has set a target to complete the printing of 12 lakh licenses by April 26 and the printing of the remaining 17 lakh licenses has been expedited.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr Bikram Timilsina directed the security printing centre not to obstruct the printing of licenses and to print all remaining licenses as soon as possible. The Ministry has also prioritized this issue in the detailed action plan that includes 10 major reform programmes aimed at making the result-oriented governance management system effective.

The action plan has been forwarded with the goal of making public service delivery citizen-friendly, efficient, transparent and technology-friendly as per the decision of the Council of Ministers on March 27.

Meanwhile, the Department of Transport Management has started making public the details of licenses printed and distributed daily through its website for further convenience to the service seekers. This will help the customer to easily get information about the status of his license.

Similarly, arrangements have been made to send the licenses completed to various transport offices across the country as soon as possible through the postal service. It has also streamlined the distribution process. It is expected that the long-pending problem of license distribution will be completely resolved in the near future if the work is carried out at this pace.
