Preparations for economic census to begin across the country from Wednesday

Kathmandu. Preparations for the second economic census have reached the final stage. According to the National Statistics Office, enumerators and necessary supervisors have been mobilized across the country and have reached the concerned areas.

The work of economic census is starting across the country from Wednesday, April 15. As per the schedule, the field data collection would be completed by the first week of June. Around five thousand human resources have been mobilized for the census.

Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has urged all the industries, industrialists, businesses and stakeholders to actively participate in the second economic census. He also urged the Indian community to contribute to the important task of data collection related to the overall industrial and economic sector of the country.

The census will collect basic details of 18 sectors of the economic sector. The census is aimed at collecting details on the number, type, investment, employment, production and service delivery of industry, business, service sector, cooperatives and private sector public institutions.

The data will be collected of registered or unregistered business establishments, business establishments and self-employment establishments across the country. Similarly, industries, factories, trade and business, non-governmental organizations, government corporations, government and private schools, hospitals, among others, will be counted.

The Office of Statistics has made it clear that active participation of all was necessary in the economic census as it is a national campaign. Prior to this, the National Economic Census was conducted in 2075 BS. The census revealed that a total of 923,356 enterprises and businesses were in operation across the country.
