Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has implemented the ‘Car Pulling’ programme, a system to drive the vehicles provided to the employees in order to reduce fuel consumption.
Acting Mayor of the metropolis Sunita Dangol said that this has been done to reduce the situation created by the shortage of fuel and its negative impact in the long run.
In the ‘Car Pooling’ program, a group of employees coming and going from the same place has been formed on the basis of the area of residence. Those in this group should take turns to transport their nearest employees to and from the vehicle. Acting Mayor Dangol said that this would reduce the number of vehicles coming to the office and the use of fuel.
He said that there is no alternative to reducing the use of fuel to avoid the situation of not getting the fuel needed for essential work and service while operating the vehicle in the same condition as before.
The metropolis has already reduced the fuel quota through the 48th executive meeting.
